Ten Things

1. I've been working on an art project for Harper's room based on one I came across on Pinterest (big surprise). I would have just bought the one that I found, but I wanted to use some of the fabric that I'm making her curtains out of, so I figured I would make one myself. I should have it ready to post tomorrow morning.

2. This is my new favorite combination for my morning coffee. I love chocolate and caramel together! I'm drinking some right now!

3. I haven't been on the computer much this week because the weather here has been amazing! It totally feels like Spring, so it will be extremely disappointing when Winter finally decides to make an appearance.

Anyway, I've been playing outside with the kids every day. It's been awesome! I took them to the park on Tuesday and it was the very first time Harper got to ride the swings! She loved it so much! She was smiling and giggling the entire time! Hudson has tons of fun too!

4. We have a few projects finally happening here with the house. It's hard to do much when your husband loses his job for 9 months and there is absolutely NO extra money to spend, but we're finally getting back on our feet and playing catch up, including getting to the nursery. I think I found the perfect shade of gray to paint the room and will be working on that and the curtains this weekend. I can't wait til it's all finished!

5. I'm also working on a list of all the recipes I've made from pins on Pinterest and plan to rate them in case you want to give some a try. Some have been good, some not so much...

6. So far, I'm loving the One Little Word class and just the concept in general. My word, nourish, has been playing a huge role in my life so far already. I know I still have 11 months to go, but I have a good feeling that it will only become more powerful with time. Love that!

7. If anyone has any brilliant parenting advice on how to deal with toddlers and tantrums, I would love to hear it! We've been dealing with A LOT lately and it is exhausting!

8. I finally ordered my Project Life binder and kit last night. I've been waiting for the page protectors to restock, but I couldn't wait anymore! I at least want to get started on my journaling before I get too far behind. I'm actually still playing catch up with last year's book. Plus I plan to add more of my own flair to this year's book.

9. I took a knitting class (did I already tell you that?), but it's possible that I've already forgotten everything I learned. Sigh.

10. The hubby and I need to start planning our anniversary trip for August. We originally wanted to go to Alaska, but I don't think we'll have the funds for that this year. Any other suggestions for a romantic getaway?? What about San Francisco? I really need a vacation!!

Dangerous Flooding

I am from a small town on the Missouri River in northeast Nebraska called South Sioux City, which is currently under a major flood warning.  The city is already flooding, but within the next week or so, the entire town could possibly be under water.  That also includes the surrounding cities; Sioux City, IA and Dakota Dunes, SD.  I have both family and friends living in the area who are under evacuation and dealing with moving entirely or at least removing their belongings from their basements and lower levels.  It's totally insane!!  Nothing like this has happened in my lifetime!

This is just one photo of how it looks now...but in a few days it will look much worse.

You can see on the left the line of trees which is usually where the water stops.  It's estimated to rise 10 more feet before is all said and done and will be that way for most of the summer.

My grandpa lives in Dakota Dunes, SD where they are building a levee to keep the town from being destroyed, but there is no way of knowing if the levee will hold, so he will probably have to evacuate.

In the meantime, I'm 2 weeks from my due date and can't travel to help with anything.  And I've caught my eighth cold of this pregnancy!  Things are totally crazy around here to say the least!  That's why I haven't been blogging this week, but hopefully I'll be back at it next week.  At least with a few posts anyway.

Any prayers you could send this way would be much appreciated!

Hard Times...

My family has been going through some difficult times recently, so focusing on my blog hasn't been my top priority, and for that I apologize.  We haven't even been able to start working on the nursery or any other projects we wanted to complete before the baby arrived.  It's been a very long 3 months, however, things are starting to look up and we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our little girl whom we affectionately call our little cupcake!

Since our son will still be using the crib for the first few months once the cupcake arrives, while she is sleeping in our room, we haven't felt the need to rush to get her room completed.  But now that her due date is just around the corner, I'm feeling like she needs some space of her own in our home...more than just a closet full of clothes, so I'm hoping to get the hubby to do some painting and a few other projects very soon.

I've also been thinking about the direction I want this blog to go once the baby arrives.  I'm sure I won't have much time for crafts or home improvement projects for a while, so I decided that I'm going to start posting about anything and everything.  Hopefully I'll be able to share all of my mommy adventures with you all as well as the new adventure I'm pursuing, which is my plan to start my own photography business.

So, to all my readers that actually check my blog, thank you for hanging in there and starting next week this blog will be taking on a somewhat new life!  I'm sorry life has gotten so in the way of my creativity...I hate when that happens!

Happy Friday!

I'm so happy it's Friday!  We finally get to find out if we're having a boy or a girl...after waiting an extra four weeks!!  This baby better be ready to flash the "goods" today!  And not only are we finding out what we're having today, but tomorrow we get to take our little man to the circus!  I don't know who'll be more excited, me or the little man!!

At the circus last year

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Here is where I'm linking up today:

Project Incomplete

Well, I didn't get to make my Valentine heart wreath this past weekend.  I made the trip to JoAnn Fabric to pick up the supplies and they were still all out of the styrofoam heart wreath!  I was so bummed and didn't feel much like driving all over town in search of one.  So, unless they get the heart in this week, I may have to wait until next year to make one.

Even though I didn't get to make my wreath, I did get to spend Saturday afternoon at the spa getting a 60 min. massage, 30 min. facial, mani and pedi!  My sweet hubby had given me a gift certificate for my birthday last March and I just got around to finally using it!!  It was wonderful!  I wish it was something I could afford to do more often!  So, if you live in the Omaha area, check out Urbane Salon and Day Spa down in the Old Market.

My Big News!!

I'm finally ready to let you in on the little secret about why I've been so absent from my blog.

I am thrilled to annouce that we are expecting Baby #2!!!

I have been extremely sick (which is the complete opposite of how I felt last time) and haven't had the energy to do much lately, especially crafts or DIY projects.  My days have been spent resting and trying to keep up with my very busy 18 month old boy.  So, I apologize, but have a good excuse!  I'm starting to feel better and hope to get back to my normal routine this week.  I hope everyone had a great weekend!

MIA

So I realize that I've been extremely absent from the blog lately, but I can promise you that I have a good excuse!  I'll be able to fill you in more next week, so hold tight and don't give up on me.  I'll be back in action soon!!   Thanks for stopping by and hopefully I'll at least post the pictures of the baby shower decor by the end of the week.
