It's Kind of Spooky In Here

I finished getting all of our Halloween decorations up this weekend. This year I decided to go glittery with my decorations. I already had a glittery skull, so I picked up some glittery spiders and an owl. I like the idea of collecting decorations over time, mixing and matching, so I'm still working on my collection. Here is a little photo tour of our decorations.

I got this awesome barn door at Junk Stock here in Omaha over the summer and finally just got it hung up in our living room. I love the way it looks with the spider web! And I can't wait to decorate it for Christmas!!

As I've mentioned before, we don't have a fireplace, so no matel for me to decorate. Hopefully in our next house! I do always try to decorate these shelves that hang above our tv. This is what I did this year so far. I'd like to add a few more glittery items though.

These cool votives were a gift from my mom a few years ago. I'm pretty certain they came from Kirkland's.

This owl came from the dollar section of Target, but I think it was $2.50, not $1.00. I wish I would have bought 2 of them and now they're gone. Bummer.

That's pretty much all of the decorating inside. I put up some orange and purple lights outside, some pumpkins and a couple of cute Halloween signs. I still want to make a wreath for the front door at some point, but I may just settle for a Fall wreath instead of a Halloween wreath.

Frame Gallery

I've been wanting to add a frame gallery to the wall that leads from our living to our kitchen forever, pretty much since we moved in here...4 years ago. I finally finished it this weekend. I basically put it all together for free.

I didn't have any money to spend on the project other than a few bucks for some white spray paint, so I used what frames I had around the house. Some of them were black, so I had to spray paint them. It's not perfect by any means. I would've loved to have bought all new frames in just the right sizes, but there wasn't money for that right now. However, I'm really pleased with how it turned out and it definitely adds a lot to the space.

I decided not to do all photos, but instead added other things to the frames as well. I already have quite a few photos hanging around the living room, so I didn't want to overdo it.

Hopefully I can continue to add to it over time and maybe even upgrade to some better frames along the way.

Oh, sorry about the photo quality. It's very dark and cloudy here today, so I had to turn on all the lights in order to get pictures without the flash.

The D is slightly crooked. Those letters are hard to get just right because the holes in the back are so uneven, but we're gonna try to fix it.

One of the other pieces that I added was a fortune from a fortune cookie. I got it at the perfect time, so it has a lot of meaning for us. All I did was add some scrapbook paper as a background. I love it!

This is one of Hudson's many paintings. I have an idea for some of his paintings that I found on Pinterest, which will eventually replace this one, but I haven't had the chance to do it yet, so that will be a separate post.

I made this pebble piece while we were camping during the first year that Jeremy and I were dating. It's been framed in our house ever since and I'm so glad I added it to the wall where I can see it all the time again.

The rest of the frames are filled with photos we've taken and one of our wedding photos. I'm excited to have it completed and happy with the "free" price tag! If ever there are any major changes, I'll be sure to blog about it, but for now it's working just fine.

Slow Progress

I've been searching the web looking for fabric for our baby girl's nursery.  I wasn't having much luck until yesterday afternoon.  I wanted something with a large, bright floral pattern, but wasn't having any luck finding one. Going into the search I wanted the fabric to include pink (but not too much pink), aqua, and green.  Apparently that is too much to ask when looking for a big, floral pattern!  But the more I looked at this fabric, the more I fell in love with it and think it will make very pretty curtains and maybe a dust ruffle as well.

We plan to paint the walls a soft gray and add pops of color throughout the room.  Such as painting this dresser a blue or pink color!  I know I showed this forever ago saying it was my next redo, well I had decided that I wanted to wait until we found out what we were having so I could paint it a color instead of white or black.  And the color would be determined by the look of the room.  So now I can  the hubby can finally get to work refinishing it!

And adding lots of color on the walls with custom artwork.  I already have a few ideas churning!
I can't wait to get started!!

What do you think of my fabric choice?  Have you come across any bright, colorful fabric in a large floral pattern?  If so, I would love to check it out!

A Blue Room

Since we have a new baby on the way in a few months, we're finally starting to finish some projects around the house that we've been putting off for months.  One of those projects is painting our son's room  and slowly converting it into more of a "big boy" room.  We knew we wanted to paint it a color in the aqua category, but hadn't settled on one yet.  Here are the samples that we liked the best:

The first one on the left is Lagoon by Martha Stewart.  The next one is Embellished Blue by Behr, and the last one is Atta Boy Blue by Disney.

And the winner is...Lagoon by Martha Stewart!

We decided that Embellished Blue was a little too light and baby blueish and we thought that Atta Boy Blue would probably be a little too dark once it was on the wall.

Our goal is to have a light, bright, fun room for our growing little boy, and hopefully a color that can stay for a while.  I'm thinking we should have it all painted by the end of the week, so I'll be sure to post some before and after pics!

Valentine's Day Decor

I'm not a big decorator when it comes to Valentine's Day, but I did manage to pull a few things together.  Nothing special, but I think it adds that little pop of color and charm to our living room.  As I mentioned before, we don't have a mantel, so I usually decorate the shelves about our entertainment center.

The Valentine subway art is a free printable from eighteen25.  I just love it!  I bought the heart votive holders from Target years ago and I think the love sign is from Michaels a few years back.  I was thinking about adding some Valentine candles too, but haven't seen any I'm crazy about, so I may have to make some.

And this is the small cutout that looks through to the kitchen.  I just added some hot pink lights and a few pictures of me and my cute hubby.  One of the pics is the very first picture we ever took together and the other is from our wedding day.  Then I picked up the little red mailbox from the $1 section at Target.  I plan on filling it with treats for the little guy on the big day.

And you saw this picture already.  Hudson loves it when I put clings on the windows.  He's constantly taking them off and I'm constantly putting them back on!  It's so much fun!!

So, like I said, it's not much, but it's enough for this year.  Maybe as the kids get older I'll be more inclined to go a little bigger.

Weekend Project: Heart Wreath

I saw this adorable and easy to make heart wreath here at eighteen 25 and plan on making one for myself this weekend.  I love the red, but may have to pick a different color if I want to hang it on our front door because the door is red or I maybe I can find a cute place to hang it in the living room.

I'm also going to try and con my hubby into painting our son's bedroom ceiling and the crown molding.  His room isn't as bad as the rest of the house, but probably hasn't been painted since 1963 when the house was built!!

This is what it looks like outside here today.  You can't tell in the picture, but it's snowing again!  And it's supposed to snow more this weekend.
Spring where are you?!  Please hurry and get here fast!!

Christmas Decor Mini Tour

I thought I'd share some pictures of our Christmas decor with everyone.  I happen to really love everything I put up, especially a certain white ceramic tree passed down to me from my grandma.  Plus, seeing other people's decorations is a great way to get inspired!

The tree!
(This picture is actually from last Christmas, but it's pretty much the same)

I had to sneak in a picture of my little cutie pie!

The old white ceramic tree (that I'm sure everyone's parents or grandparents have) is my favorite.  It reminds me of being a kid.

Our stockings...they look kinda sad without a mantle to hang from.

Since we don't have a mantle to decorate (I wish so badly we did!) I make good use of our entertainment center and the shelves that hang above it.  It's not as pretty as a mantle, but it will have to do for now.

The shelves

I love this too.  I bought the snowman candle from Pottery Barn when I worked there a few years ago and then just added some fake snow.

I have tons more, but will just stick with the living room for now.  I hope you enjoyed the mini tour!

Christmas Wordle

We put up our Christmas tree and decorations this past weekend because we won't have time to do it next weekend like usual.  One thing I did was change out my fall Wordle for a new Christmas version.  I really like how it turned out.  I love that it's an easy and free way to decorate!  Here is my original "word cloud" that I plan to use again after the holidays.

Feeling Very Fallish

*REMINDER* Please don't forget to enter my first giveaway HERE!!!  It ends tonight at 10 p.m. and the winner will be announced tomorrow (Friday) morning.

I'm in a very fall mood this morning.  I guess it's the cooler weather that set in yesterday or the adorable gourds I picked up at the supermarket.
I am loving the little white one with all the warts.  I'll be saving seeds from it to see if I can grow some next year!

I wanted to do something fun with these, so I grabbed my glass pumpkin and a bunch of acorns that I gathered from the neighbors house and put them all together.  I like how it looks, but it needs more gourds and acorns and then it will be the perfect centerpiece!

I'm not crafting today because we have to take Hudson back to the eye doctor for a check-up, so this morning I'll be flipping through my new Pottery Barn holiday catalog...

and enjoying some coffee with my new creamer!  It's so stinkin' delicious!!!

Oh, but first I need to thank Allison at House of Hepworths for featuring my Candy Corn Pots!
Thanks lady!  I'm so glad you liked them!
